What Could Be the Socio-Economic Repercussions in the Face of the Decline in Women’s Rights?

Abstract

The paper finds a notable level of regression in the protections and institutions for upholding women’ s rights can be appreciated in recent years across both developing and developed nations due to social, political, and ideological shifts. With research proving the critical role women hold in economic growth and prosperity, this backwards trend is not only a notable human rights issue, but also poses a significant economic challenge. This paper aims to examine the possible socio-economic repercussions involving the rollback in women’s rights, particularly under the framework of the emergence of right-leaning policy and power accumulation, by using both historical and contemporary case studies, previously proposed or enforced policy, and existing literature, as subject for analysis.
