Abstract

The following paper will attempt to provide an analysis of policy – partly domestic, but primarily foreign – conducted by the Trump administration from 2017-2021, and January 2025-present, particularly the isolationist side of Trump’s agenda, the impact these policies had on the so-called ‘international order’, how they were received and, in some cases, combatted. The paper will also briefly explore events that took place during Trump’s time out of office – Joe Biden’s presidential term, referred to in this paper as ‘the Inter-Trump period’, and how this shaped Trump’s current electoral mandate. Finally, the paper will speculate on the remaining 3 years and 9 months of the current Trump administration, and what may lie in store for the international order and the world as a whole.
